If have Desktop already checked in Defaults, any folder in the Desktop will already be included. In this case I chose to add the videos folder but you can choose any folder. If already have Backup & Sync installed but need to get to its setting, see below. The potential for inadvertent filesystem activity (such as a volume backup recovery) to disrupt the 3rd party’s own integrity checks: “these files seem to have been created/altered by something that’s not me and are therefore considered corrupt/invalid” is concerning, but only just concerning at this point. Before using as a backup solution, please read the warning note at the bottom of the page. That may not be bad, but it introduces complexity and potential fragility into a system where integrity is (probably) the most important trait. My concern (and it’s only concern, not panic or outrage those come later ) is that this seems like a shift from “a directory on my computer that is automatically synced with my other devices” to “a data store on my computer that is synced but that requires 3rd party software to access”. It rolled out to me as well, but at this time I don’t keep any files on external volumes. ODContainer appear to be the actual files, so that means backup should be able to be done.
